Teachers no show at school at Micoud Infant School

Students of the Micoud Infant School were sent back home yesterday morning following reports that teachers were taking industrial action.

Yesterday morning we contacted the principal of the school who said there were no teachers at the institution and that parents were being called to return for their children. The principal didn’t delve into details but said she was awaiting directives from the district education officer.

We also sought comments from the district education officer who too reserved comment, preferring those to come from the chief education officer.

None of the parties were available to clarify the situation however one parent suggested that the teachers’ action stemmed from unmet demands made through their union.

The Saint Lucia Teacher’s Union too was unavailable to verify the claim.
