Tea time Jazz continues to get LUCELEC support

St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) is continuing its support of the rebranded Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival with a financial contribution to the organizers of Tea Time Jazz.

On Thursday, April 18, 2013, LUCELEC Corporate Communications Manager Roger Joseph presented a $5,600 contribution to the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority, organizers of the two-day event.

Tea Time Jazz will be held on Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9. It will feature performances from The Gospel Connection, En Voice, Trish and the Derek Yarde Project.

LUCELEC is a main sponsor of the event. The free show which also provides patrons with complimentary tea and snacks will be held at La Place Carenage from 3 pm.Tea Time Jazz has always boasted a line-up of Saint Lucian performers. It is one of the reasons Mr Joseph cites for LUCELEC’s continued support.

“We believe in our local artistes. We know that with the right support, the local creative industries can really take off and begin to make the kind of major economic contribution that sector is already making in some of the other islands in the Caribbean,” Joseph said.

In addition to bringing jazz to patrons, Tea Time Jazz is also designed to lure the buying public to the venue where a number of shops operate. Joseph said LUCELEC supports the facilitated marriage between commerce and the arts.

Tea Time Jazz is one of the many fringe events associated with the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival that LUCELEC is sponsoring. The others include Soufriere Jazz, Fond D’Or Jazz, Jazz on the Bay (Marigot), Jazz in the South and Jazz on the Grill.

LUCELEC is also a gold sponsor of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival which will run from April 30 to May 12, 2013.
