The Holy Family University men’s track and field team competed at the annual Oscar Moore Open hosted by Rowan University on Wednesday.

Freshman Taurai Augustin, from the community of La Clery in Saint Lucia, finished second overall in the 800m run.

Augustin, who stands six feet tall, recorded a time of 2:01.43, just short of Rowan’s Brandon Eldershaw’s winning time of 2:00.31. His time was a personal-best time this outdoor season.

The time was also a hundredth of a second off his all-time PR of 2:01.42, which he ran at last year’s NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. At the time, the young Saint Lucia was competing for Union Communinity College.

Back at the Oscar Moore, junior Lou Simone (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) competed in the 400m dash and finished eighth overall. Simone recorded a time of 54.28 seconds as he was competing in the event for the first time this season.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, April 11 as the Tigers compete at The College of New Jersey Invite.
