Taurai Augustin, a Saint Lucian student athlete at Holy Family University, finished 23rd overall to lead his school’s men’s cross country team at the annual Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on Sunday at Belmont Plateau.
Augusin finished the 8k-course in a time of 29:55.2 in his first CACC Championship as he averaged 6:02 minutes per mile. Sophomore Kev Orwig (Stewartstown, Pa.) was the next Tigers’ runner to cross the finish line as he recorded a 50th place showing in his first conference championship meet. Orwig recorded a time of 31:56.3.
Senior Lou Simone (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) finished 76th overall as he recorded a time of 36:40.3, a new season-best time. Junior Juwan Jordan (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) recorded a time of 42:14.7 for a personal-best performance at the conference championship (78th), while sophomore Corey Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Mast Community Charter School) finished in a time of 42:29.9 (81st). Williams’ time set a new personal-best in CACC championship.
Holy Family will compete next on Sunday, Nov. 8 at the NCAA Division II Regional hosted at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
