Supercentenarian, Christina Cetoute, who celebrated her 113th birthday on June 9, 2016, died on Wednesday, August 24, around 12:24 .p.m. relatives told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today.

Cetoute, who was believed to be St. Lucia’s oldest living resident, had two children. They are now deceased. Ma Fleur as she was commonly called had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A farmer for decades who hails from the community of Morne d’Or in the Roseau Valley, Cetoute was bedridden and had difficulties hearing, but she was otherwise in good health before her death.

Women of Wise, an affiliate of the Saint Lucia Labour Party had organized an event on April 11, 2016 to honour her. Members of the community had turned out in large numbers to support the event.

A relative told SNO, “She lived a long life as she spent  wonderful times with family and strength. They credit Cetoute’s long life to eating natural, non-processed food.

  1. Amazing! Her relatives have that longevity in their genes. If they use her as an example, they too can live very long. Tremendous accomplishment!!

  2. Is everything political now? No wonder progress in St. Lucia is thought of but not materialized.

No a word of sympathy. How insensitive of you! Rather you choose to politicize this.

    Time and place, man.

  6. The people honored their party not the lady as it was elections time. If they really care I would like to see them take care of funeral expenses. Lets follow their progress.
