The process to remove a sunken tugboat in Port Castries is almost completed, officials have confirmed.

The Doggersbank sunk in Port Castries last October, and is currently being secured to remove any debris that may be inside the vessel.

Officials of the MVP Walrus said the floating of the Doggersbank is progressing well. The team has already inserted lifting bags which is filled with air to allow the vessel to float to the surface.

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) is monitoring the operation and has a plan in place to protect the maritime environment within the Castries harbour during the resurfacing.

Once lifted, the Doggersbank will be moved to the La Toc Bay where the owner will decide its future.

  1. Lol for years the raw sewerage has been getting into the harbor and neither red or yellow has done a thing about it. Guess it's a tourist attraction as it's strategically placed next to a mini park behind it and with an excellent view for the cruise ships berthing at point seraphin. Even locals next wedding photos close to it.

  2. What marine life there is to protect in an already polluted harbor. Come on SLASPA...Who are you'll trying to fool? Everyday raw sewage is pumped into the port Castries.

    • Come on Kill Bill, there is life in the cesspool! They just may have extra eyes, extra teeth, or maybe one day we will see a fish with fur come out of the filth. Everyday we see sea birds having their fill.
