The management of Windward Leeward Brewery Limited (WLBL) and the National Workers Union (NWU) have successfully concluded discussions on all outstanding issues that previously led to a four-day work stoppage by employees of the company.
The agreement is that:
* The NWU has formally accepted the company’s decision to make two of its employees redundant. Both parties regret the manner in which the matter was handled and vowed not to go that route in future.
* The redundant employees will receive enhanced compensation packages negotiated on their behalf and accepted by them, the amounts of which will be paid next week.
* The children of the redundant employees will be allowed to continue to benefit from the Text Book Programme for a period of one year.
* The two employees concerned will continue to receive beverages for another four months.
WLBL will provide commendable recommendations for both of the redundant employees.
