PRESS RELEASE – Coconut Bay Management, staff and Guest rallied together yesterday, 19th November one day ahead of United Nations International Children’s Day to provide a special treat and support to children from three learning institutions in the south of the island.
The children who were drawn from the Lions and St Jude Early Childhood Centres and the Vieux Fort Special Education School has an amazing stay at the hotel during which time they enjoyed eats and drinks, had fun in the “Splash Park” and visited the Coco Coral Petting Zoo.
The decision was taken by Coconut Bay to allocate the proceeds of its weekly Wednesday Rubber Duck Race to the benefit of the three targeted schools. Through the special interest and generosity of Guest, Coconut Bay was successful in generating a total of US $1140 from the sale of fifty seven (57) Ducks. This revenue will be donated as a contribution from the hotel to the three schools in question.
The United Nations International Children’s Day has been commemorated every year since 1954. The day is observed to bring attention to the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Clause no. 7 of the Declaration speaks to the Right to Education.
