Student hit by vehicle

This student – Sasha Cadette of the Babonneau Secondary School – was hit by a white pick-up at the intersection of Micoud and Laborie Streets, near the cathedral, in Castries around 4:35 p.m. today. She was taken to hospital by ambulance. Her injuries did not appear to be serious. The vehicle stopped and the driver was seen cooperating with the police.

  1. SMFH. What are you doing that time with your school uniform on and to make it worst you all hate to give oncoming vehicles the road to drive on. You all the the vehicles and the vehicle have to be you all. It's high time the police arrest you all little behind when seen in uniform and put in the cell for the day or night.. Nonsense.. The van did not knock u hard enough but poor jab the driver will pay the price.. Because the phrase is knock me uh....

  2. I agree with anyone who makes the statement that school children should go home straight. Some of them would see a vehicle cross directly infront of then and tell the driver to hit them or even curse drivers some of them behave like their teacher did not take them for walks for the safety lesson on how to cross a street... accidents do happen I do not know the case for this one but once in a while it's good for pick-ups to give those students a lil touch up! They need respect... they need to go to school and succeed... I went to a lower school but u rarely hear a students of the upper schools being involved in nonsense ... go home and study

  3. Blame Fish Alphonse and the authorities at the time who put out that stupid ad some 30 years ago.
How many are old enough to remember.

Laying in the middle of the road and daring drivers to knock him.

That was the most stupid ad ever produced by any authority.in Government.

  4. Some thirty years ago there was an ad on TV with FISH ALPHONSE educating people about crossing the road. The add showed that pedestrians could cross the road at leisure and even lay on the road on the pedestrian crossings and daring the driver to hit the pedestrian
HOW MANY OF US CAN REMEMBER? That is the most STUPID AD EVER PRODUCED.
The powers responsible for that add need to apologize to us.
Maybe that's why St. Lucians developed that culture of not been careful when crossing the roads.

  5. No can't deny that students, kids cross the street without looking, even at crosswalks. They then become adults who do the exact same thing. Most, if not all of us were taught to look left, right, then left again before crossing a street. Does it even look like the driver who hit her was speeding (someone mentioned it). I doubt the driver was speeding, because if he was, the girl would have been seriously hurt. As you can see, she is alert and can move. Hope she is ok and the driver doesn't have any nightmares about what happened.

  6. They don't even look when crossing the roads! Every time I drive through town if I'm not careful I'll be knocking 3 of them down, because they just step onto the road or run in front of your car and laugh, because is't funny!! Then blame the driver! SHM As children we may not have alsways gone home straight after school, but we always looked both ways before crossing the road

  7. I was in the process of commenting on the negative comments and those who respond and how the latter should ignore the former but I'll just take my own advice and ignore both groups. *sigh*

Anyone who gets annoyed by such comments (negative and responses to negative comments) I suggest you read the article and ignore the comments below the article.

    *sigh*

  9. we all claim to be followers of Christ. a student is knock down, very few people show compassion. No wonder St. Lucia is the way it is. so what if she was going to do whatever she wanted. point remains she was knocked down and is obviously hurt. I would like to believe that all of you guys with these negative comments are just unable to express emotion cause it really sounds like you all are a bunch of cold heartless, miserable bitter losers.
what would be the comments if it was your kids ?? You'll would be calling the world to join you'll are equal rights and justice

  12. Lots of accidents on the island lately, seems people are so worried about the future that they even stop paying attention while driving, not paradise anymore.

  13. 4:30 pm at the intersction of Micoud and Laborie street. Vehicles are moving at a snails paste. Ppl have all sort of strategies and ideas which should be implemented by the government to get kids home from school. BS. That should be done from home. Stop waiting on the government for everything. Your child belongs to u. Not the government. Discipline ur child so he or she knows that after school is a time to get home. Not to be roaming the streets. Clogging the sidewalks.
