(St. Lucia News Online) — Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour and Castries North Membe of Parliament, Stephenson King, said his team delivered another promise: the new La Retriate bridge, located on the Monchy road, Gros Islet.
In a Facebook post with the caption “Voila – New La Retriate Bridge”, King said the La Retriate Bridge Reconstruction Project is now successfully complete.
He said the bridge is climate-resilient, accomodates two-lane traffic, and is fitted with pedestrian sidewalks.

Construction of the bridge commenced in March-April 2020.
Prime Minister Allen Chastanet also congratulated Parliament Representative for Gros Islet Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute for a job well done.
In a Facebook post, Chastanet said: “It’s not very often that I have free time on an afternoon, so I made the best of it yesterday by going around to check the progress of several ongoing and completed projects in the constituencies of Gros Islet and Babonneau. Extremely happy that the La Retraite Bridge is now complete and that the resurfacing of the entire La Retraite Road is nearing completion. Well done Spider💪🏼 #StaySafe #LetsKeepWorking
