The Wildcats, ranked 10th in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men’s Volleyball Top 10 National Poll, opened the day with a 26-24, 22-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-10 five-set victory over Briar Cliff (Iowa). C-SC finished the tournament with a four-set loss to No. 7 Warner (Fla.) by the scores of 25-23, 28-30, 25-22, 25-22. The Wildcats, who are 10-10 overall, won three of their four matches in the tournament.
In the opener against Briar Cliff, the Wildcats were paced offensively by 6’4″ Saint Lucian outside hitter Gillan Octave with 15 kills. Gillan is far and away the team leader in kills, with 101 of his team’s total of 304. He is more than 50 successful attacks ahead of his nearest teammate.
After a busy week that saw the Wildcats play six matches in six days, the Wildcats are enjoying some time off, before facing off against the top-ranked team in the NAIA, Missouri Baptist University.
