St. Lucia’s Albert second In French Antilles Table Tennis Championships

8b5d1b71-4262-4891-afef-bc0a180eb634Chris Wells and Adrian Albert represented Saint Lucia at the recent French Antilles Table Tennis Championships in Guadeloupe.

The two-man team placed fourth in the men’s event, behind Guadeloupe A, French Guiana, and Guadeloupe B. Martinique and the Commonwealth of Dominca placed fifth and sixth respectively.

Saint Lucia was upset in a close match against Guadeloupe B, losing 3-2. Against French Guiana, Saint Lucia lost 3-1. But Wells and Albert were able to recover from those two defeats to beat Dominca 3-0, Martinique 3-1 and the champion team Guadeloupe A, 3-2.

In the knockout competition, Wells and Albert reached the semifinals but lost to the Guadeloupe pair of Martin Thadey and Steven Blot 3-2. In singles, both Wells and Albert reached semifinals, but had to compete against each other, with Albert prevailing. In the final, Alex Tertulien of French Guiana became French Antilles Champion when he defeated Albert 3-0.
