A St. Lucian was crowned Miss Caribbean American Netball Association (CANA).
Jenny Ross, 20, originally from Ravine Chabot, Castries, but currently residing in Brooklyn, New York, won the pageant, held at Crystal Manor on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn on September 28.
A member of the Terminators Netball Club based in Brooklyn, Ross also won best talent with a skit. She tied for best dress but pointed out that “we were asked to give a final work but I didn’t win”.
Ross said she was ecstatic about winning Miss CANA because she is not the “typical pageant girl”.
“I didn’t think I had it in me. At the beginning I was nervous but when I got on the stage there was no turning back. I just did exactly what I practiced and it turned out better than I thought,” she told St. Lucia News Online.
Ross said this was not her first pageant.
“…. I participated in Miss Young St Lucian Helpers in St. Lucia in 2005. I won best dress and placed second runner-up,” she noted.
Ross attends Borough of Manhattan Community College and works two jobs: Foot Locker and KAI Studios.
