(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – The Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) wishes to congratulate physiotherapist, Ms. Zhenya C. Allain as she heads to Miami this weekend to attend the upcoming “Immediate Care-In Rugby Level 2” course. This course is held by Rugby Americas North (RAN) and World Rugby (WR) for persons, in the medical field, who have shown significant interest in the sport and have had an impact in the sport in their country.
Ms. Allain was nominated by the SLRFU, as she has volunteered her time and physiotherapy services for the past 12 years with the SLRFU. She was accepted by RAN along with several applicants across the region. The course will be held 21st – 22nd April, 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Miami. This course will not only benefit rugby players, but all elite athletes in any sport.
The recent mandate for WR in the past two years has focused on women and the youth. Ms. Allain is only one of a few of our local females who have made significant steps in rugby on and off the field. Worthy of mention are Ms. Cheyenne Samuels was given a rugby scholarship in January this year to study at LIFE University and Ms. Chantel John, rugby referee, who as of December, 2017, has been added to the RAN list of available referees able to referee regionally and internationally.
The President of SLRFU, Mr. Roger Butcher, stated he is pleased to see its women making strides in the rugby community.
