West Palm Beach Police said Vincent Edwards shot Chenel Monrose and then turned the gun on himself shortly after 6 p.m. outside a single-family home in the 900 block of 43rd Street, according to a report in the Palm Beach Post newspaper.
Monrose, who was shot in the head, was taken in critical condition to St. Mary’s Medical Center. She is expected to survive. Edwards died at the scene.
According to the newspaper, a woman, who remained anonymous, said the couple recently had experienced domestic troubles.
“I knew they were having issues, like all couples do. But I didn’t know it was to that extent, where he’d want to take her life,” the woman told The Post.
Police said two young children, believed to belong to one of Monrose’s family members, were present when the shooting took place, but they were not injured.
