St. Lucians at home and in Taiwan, as well as family and friends, awoke to the sad news this morning that one of their own died tragically.
Roney James, also known as ‘Slim’, a 28-year-old father of two children, reportedly passed away after a suspected vehicular accident in Taiwan on Friday night, Nov. 27.
There are conflicting reports about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Initial reports say a vehicle knocked James off his motorcycle and his body was found next to his bike, while a relative told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that he is not sure how the accident occurred, but he was told that James crashed into a pole while riding his motorcycle.
James, originally from Mon Repos, was living in Taiwan with his Taiwanese wife. They had two children – a one-year-old boy and a six-month-old girl, Ed said.
“We were chatting day before, he was telling me how proud he is to have a boy and girl,” the relative said.
“I still can’t believe it yet…. It’s hard to even think he’s gone. I’m just devastated.”
Friends of Roney told SNO that he was a “very nice” and “very decent guy”.
