St. Lucian charity group makes donation to Canaries Infant and Primary schools


PRESS RELEASE –
St. Lucians in the Diaspora continue to help in recovery efforts post the New Years Eve trough which affected the island last year.

The latest form of assistance comes from a group called “Aide Sa Nou”(Help Our Own) which is made up of ordinary St. Lucians living in New York. The members have through various fundraising activities accumulated enough funds to ensure that every student at the Canaries Primary and Infant Schools receive at least one notebook, a folder, pens, pencils, markers/crayons. The donation, which was presented at Oct. 9, also included school resources for teachers at the aforementioned schools.

In delivering the packages spokesperson for the group, Ms Denise Auguste stated, ”It is was important to instill in our youth the spirit of giving and when those that have gone out of our classrooms have gone on to give. It is just as important that they receive commendation for it. Therefore I would also like make special mention of four individuals in particular Mrs. Janice Moodie, Mrs. Sharon Campous, Ms. Maggie Loctor, Ms. Lydia St Rose for this model gesture.”

Principal at the Canaries Primary School, Ms Laura Francis and Canaries Infant School, Mrs. Simona JnBaptiste expressed heartfelt thanks to the group members for their consideration and contribution towards the their recovery efforts.
