PRESS RELEASE – Michael Hussey is one of the great names expected to make a difference on the field playing on the St. Lucia Zouks squad this year, and is excited about this year’s Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The Australian great, better known as Mr. Cricket, met with St. Lucia’s press corps on Wednesday and expressed his elation for playing with the Zouks and hopes to embrace the St. Lucia and West Indian culture.
“I know in the Caribbean cricket is played in a party atmosphere, and so one would have embrace it”, Hussy said.
Hussey indicated he has had fond memories of playing in St. Lucia. He believes the Darren Sammy Cricket National Stadium is one of the best pitches in the West Indies and hopes for great support this year.
He thinks it’s important for the Zouks team to gel quickly as there is a nice balance in the squad. “Contributions will be needed from all the players”, Hussey says as he looks forward to a good start. The 41-year-old left hander believes that over the next couple of days the team will have to do some team bonding in order to do well against the likes of Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL opener in Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday, 29 June.
