The national women’s volleyball team got a pounding from the Puerto Rico team at the NORCECA Women’s World Championship Qualification Tournament Pool R in Puerto Rico last week.
Puerto Rico needed less than 60 minutes to score their second victory in the by brushing aside St. Lucia 25-4, 25-9, 25-10 on Friday, May 23.
Coach of the St. Lucia team Florian Combie commented, “Puerto Rico showed their experience and superiority”.
The victory earned Puerto Rico a spot in the decisive match for the berth in the final stage of the world championship in Italy.
According to reports, Puerto Rico dominated the game from start to finish.
“The game allowed me to give playing opportunities to the new generation of players and to work with the three setters in our squad … It was a good result but we
still need to improve in some details,” Coach Jose Mieles said, as cited on Norceca.net.
Costa Rican Verania Willis also led her team to victory over Barbados in that competition.
