PRESS RELEASE – The president of the St. Lucia Volleyball Association, Brian Louisy, departed for Italy to represent Saint Lucia at the 34th Volleyball (FIVB) Congress.
The congress brings together the 200 volleyball federations from all over the globe to report, asses, celebrate and improve on the development of the sport of volleyball.
This year’s Congress is expected to focus on the dynamic modernization of global volleyball over the past two years and how that success can be built upon for the continued betterment of the sport.
Whilst the last two years have set the pace for technological evolution, the FIVB is continuing to make strides into new areas to constantly improve the sport.
The Congress was preceded by a one-day workshop for national federations in categories 1 and 2 with the theme “From vision to action”.
The aim is to create an open dialogue between all member federations through collaboration.
St. Lucia was asked to make a presentation, as it was selected by North, Central American and Caribbean Confederation, NORCECA, as the model association in the region.
St. Lucia was able to gain this prestigious recognition, through the accomplishments over the last two years in hosting, development, participation and competition.
The St. Lucia Volleyball Association, with the support of NORCECA and the FIVB, continues to seek progress in the sport of volleyball and to provide greater avenues for St. Lucian talent.
