The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, in collaboration with the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association, continued with preparation of the National Under-15 Cricket Team over the past weekend. Saint Lucia is preparing to vie for a third straight title at this level.
On Saturday, the 32 players were engaged in physical conditioning, skill enhancement and nets.
On Sunday, a practice trial match was held at the Gros Islet Playing Field. The teams were led by Windward Islands Under-15 player Simeon Gerson and National Under-15 player Garvin Serieux.
Gerson’s team, batting first on a hard grassy track, made an impressive 359/7 in 45 overs. Lee Solomon top scored with 75, which included 12 fours and a six. Sergeo Auguste also hit a half century, 55 not out with seven boundaries, whilst Mateo Boulogne, Dominic Auguste, and Tyrel Chicot added 46, 45, and 44.
For Garvin Serieux’s team, Jaden Elibox picked up 2-44 in 9 overs.
In reply, Serieux’s team made 276/11 wickets in 45 overs. Ackeem Auguste hit 61, comprising 13 fours. Zidane Arthur contributed 40, Avalinus Calender 26, Ephron Charles 21 and Garvin Serieux 17.
Bowling for Gerson’s team, Solomon starred again, taking 3-30 in eight overs.
The 2016 edition of the Windward Islands Uncer-15 Tournament is slated for Dominica, in the first two weeks of April.
