PRESS RELEASE – Saint Lucia making progress on Third National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Castries, Saint Lucia, November 29, 2016 – The Department of Sustainable Development, will be hosting a validation and closing consultation under the Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment Component of its Third National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
To date, three critical components of the Third National Communication project have been completed. They are a Greenhouse Gas Inventory, a Mitigation to Climate Change Assessment and a National Circumstances Component.
This final consultation under the Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment Component seeks to capture the feedback received from the stakeholders consulted over the last eight months.
The key economic sectors to be discussed at the consultation are Agriculture, Water, Coastal Zone, Tourism, Human Health and Financial Services.
The final consultation will present a summary of findings on sector consultation and provide overall context of the Third National Communication Project. The consultation will be held at the Orchid Conference Room situated at the Tissue Culture Laboratory on Thursday 1st December 2016 from 8am-4p.m.
A summary of the Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment report will form part of Saint Lucia’s Third National Communication. Saint Lucia expects to submit the completed Third National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat in 2017.
The work under this programme is funded by the Global Environment Facility and is implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme.
