St. Lucia Kweyol Karate Tournament set for October 24

PRESS RELEASE – The St. Lucia Karate Alliance would like to invite the public to the St. Lucia Kweyol Karate Tournament this Saturday October 24, 2015 at 8:45 am.

This tournament is held in celebration of Kweyol Heritage Month and will have participants from  St. Lucia and different French Terrritories.

The karate as will be battling for the top prizes in Individual and Team Kata and Sparring.

This year, the styles of karate accepted for competition will be Traditional Karate e.g.  Shotokan, ShitoRyu, Rengokai(Rengokai Includes: GojoRyu, WadoRyu, ShorinRyu, Kyokushinkai, Sankukai, UechiRyu).

The event was created by martial arts veteran Allan Giffard and is being hosted by the Golden Phoenix Martial Arts Academy. For more information on this tournament and/or upcoming events in karate please log onto www.stluciakaratealliance.weebly.com

  1. i just dont get it karate is a different culture altogether by it self from where ever and they infusing it with kweyol which is another culture so why call it kweyol karate our fore fathers and mothers like say sessane descarte never taught us karate
