St. Lucia hosts revived OECS Boxing Championships this weekend

St. Lucia’s national boxing team is confident ahead of the revived OECS Boxing Championships which will be held here this Friday and Saturday evening at the Vigie Multi-purpose Sports Complex.

Joining the St. Lucia team is British-based heavyweight Ryan Charles who is originally out of Aux Lyon in the Mabouya Valley.

Charles said he’s very happy with the team and is very thankful for the work the executive of the St. Lucia Amateur Boxing Association is doing in bringing the sport forward in St. Lucia.

Dread-locked middleweight boxer Arthur Langilier said he is looking forward to the revived OECS Boxing championships.

Langilier has had experience in several bouts overseas, including winning gold at the Creole Boxing Championships, but has never been at an OECS boxing championships before.

Langilier said he is eagerly awaiting his moment in the ring this weekend. The veteran boxer said the St. Lucia team is ready for the championships and believes they can do very well at home.

Host country St. Lucia, along with Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda, are expected to participate in this weekend’s OECS Boxing Championships.
