St. Lucia debuts Piton Awards for Canadian travel agents

Saint Lucia (September 26, 2012) – The Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB) Wednesday announced the new Piton Awards to Canadian travel agents, an enhancement of the Preferred Agent Saint Lucia Specialist(PASS) program.

Travel agents and agency partners participating in PASS will be automatically enrolled and eligible to also earn new incentives from participating hotels. Each month the top booking agent will win a four-night stay plus $600 CAD and the respective agency will receive $500 CAD Piton Marketing Bank Dollars. One grand prize trip will be awarded featuring seven nights for two including airfare, hotel, airport transfers and $5,000 CAD.

The PASS program offers several benefits including:

·         Listing on the website

·         Access to thousands of travelers from the SLTB via live chats on

·         Complimentary site inspections

·         Featured spots within the SLTB monthly e-newsletter

·         A chance to win an all expense, all inclusive trip for two

“Our valued travel agent and agency partners are a precious resource in selling Saint Lucia to travelers and we want to reward them for their ongoing support,” said Nerdin St. Rose, Saint Lucia Tourist Board’s VP Marketing & Sales. “Our goal is to ensure that agents have the tools they need to be successful as well as giving them the opportunity to experience first-hand all Saint Lucia has to offer.”

The Piton Awards is an annual program and this year runs now through September 30, 2013. To be eligible agents must complete the Saint Lucia Specialist Course, be IATA/CLAA/ACTA/TICO/CLIA certified, attend a Saint Lucia presentation at least once per year and update bookings online no later than the fifth of the month following the book date.

The drawing of $600 CAD and four-night stay will be given out to the top booking agent of the month with an additional $500 CAD Piton Marketing Bank Dollars to the agency. The grand prize seven-night stay and $5,000 CAD will be awarded to a top producing travel agent chosen from those who secure a minimum of 60 qualified bookings (minimum 3 nights stay) between October 2012 and September 2013.
