Gerard Bergasse of Tropical Shipping has been re-elected president of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.
Bergasse was re-elected during the Chamber’s 128rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held last night, Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Royal St. Lucian Conference room.
Lanfraze Cherubin of Windward and Leeward Brewery Ltd was elected for the first time and will serve as the second vice president with specific responsibility for the manufacturing sector.
Joya Martin, general manager of Karib Cable; Sue Monplaisir, country manager of The Wave St. Lucia Limited, and Brenda Williams, partner of Binder Dijker and Otte, were also elected on the management committee.

During the AGM, Emma Hippolyte, Minister of Commerce, Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs, emphasized the work her ministry and government were doing in the area of improving the investment climate and the business environment. T
The closed business session saw the election of the Board of Directors and the presentation of audited financial statements. The Executive Director’s Report was once again presented in the form of a magazine.
The executive director also advised members of the date for the 2013 St. Lucia Business Awards which has been scheduled for the Sandals Grand Resort and Spa on Saturday January 26, 2013.
Three new award categories have been added to the event, including “Making it Easier to do Business Award” which will for the first time consider public sector agency submissions.
