St. Lucia and Cuba discuss sports and education

Sports and education were the focus of the meetings held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, between Saint Lucia and Cuba, in Havana.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, along with his delegation visited the “Giraldo Cordova Cardin” Higher School for Training High Performance Athletes and profited the opportunity to visit the “Estadio Panamericano”, which is the training ground for Cuba’s world class track and field athletes. The exchange served as an occasion to get insights into the Cuban Sport System.

The Prime Minster discussed future cooperation in sports development and management between the countries and in particular the need to develop mechanisms to discover and train potential athletes.

Later in the day, the Higher Institute of Arts hosted the Prime Minister and his delegation. The Prime Minister met staff and students who explained the programmes and activities of the University. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to introduce the Creative Industries thrust in Saint Lucia and to explore possible areas of cooperation between Cuba and Saint Lucia to encourage and harness the talents and creativity of young Saint Lucians.

  1. If every Minister had to be included on the program, here is the list that would be required, based on where we have visited. The Minister for Sports, Minister for Labour, Minister for Health, Minister for Creative Industries and Minsiter for the Public Service. This means that we would need about eight Minister's here, one for each day of the week.

  3. let's stop being idiots the PM needs his support staff. This the case with all heads of states around the world. Some of us are quick to talk about our tax dollars only when it's convenient to us.
To ask where is the minister of sports shows some of us are clueless about international relations and wouldn't his inclusion waste more of our so called tax dollars. A country can't be ran like a ti boutique. The day this happens we are in the jaws of the dogs.

  4. this burdens me when we make our country leaders make our country look dumb and like beggars all over the world when we have resourceful people all over the world but cant get opportunities to help the country develop as a result of recycled political hacks.Clean up the public sector and put people who carries the experience, qualifications and are resourceful to take our country forward.Stop misusing tax payers monies and the country is going no where, why pay people and they cant deliver, what's the point.I say the public sector needs an overhaul.
