The perpetrator of an armed robbery at St. Jude’s Hospital early Thursday morning (Mar. 13) is still on the run, as officer of the Criminal Investigations Department, (CID) of the Southern Division investigate the incident.

According to an official police report, it is alleged that a masked individual armed with what appeared to be a shotgun, entered into one of the offices of the medical facility and “stole an undisclosed sum of money”.

St. Lucia News Online understands that about $1000 is missing as a result.

SNO was also told two to three employees were reportedly on duty at the time of the robbery about 3 a.m. No one was injured during the heist, but it left staff traumatized.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is appealing to anyone with information that can assist in the investigation of this robbery to contact the CID at 456 3762 or the nearest police station.

  1. It shouldn't be a question of whether we should be blaming politicians or not. The situation is such that they will be blamed since they are not doing a good or satisfactory job in the eyes of the public. What if they were doing the basics such as fixing the justice system and be lest interested in babbling and passing laws. We have so many laws that our ability to police them has over taken the capabilities of both our Police and Justice System. The PM went to the house to pass a Anti Gang Law. Has anyone read this law? Can the police deal with it? can the Justice System successfully prosecute persons charge under this law?

Instead we are busy showering praises on the PM who says in his defence that it is better he did something rather than nothing. People in this country are the real problem. After when this law appeared in the UK it was doubtful whether it could be prosecuted without infringing on citizens rights. A Commission was set up and Practice Directions were issued by the Justice Department to the Prosecution Office.

Do we see that type of responsibility implemented in St. Lucia. No? After we are all a set of white rum consuming mob who will follow anyone who limes under the market and sell to anyone who is willing to give us some of the stuff and a job cutting grass by the road for a few dollars to go buy the same stuff. Isn't that ironic?

  7. A hero will rise against these criminal elements one day. He will have no regard for the laws and will systematically take out everyone of those criminals.

That day will be a beautiful day.

  13. Out of all the nasty little stories I read concerning crime in St Lucia, this one is one of the worst. How can you rob a facility in which you yourself will depend one day. It contains the most vulnerable people on the island and you kick them even more!

When the police find you and crack your head open, you now will have less chance of getting better!

Kenny Anthony - everytime I see a picture of you, you get fatter and fatter. When you have finished wining and dining your bandit friends in caricom, could you please do something about crime and the woeful gun penalties on this beautiful island.

    • Sunflower Heaven does it merit the thief to steal even though he does not have a job? There are many people around the world who are not working who will never think of stealing. The time he thought of plotting to steal from the hospital he should have been thinking of getting a job or writing his C.V.Stop blaming politicians for every time those criminals chooses to do their evil ills to society and the country.
