Saint Lucia’s home team, the Zouks, has stepped up their game in the Hero Caribbean Premier League T20 competition moving from the bottom of the table to third after 3 matches.
A match-winning stand between Shane Watson and Johnson Charles saw the Saint Lucia Zouks to victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday.
Saint Lucia-born Charles made a career best 94 not out as the Zouks made it three wins from three from their home leg to put themselves in the mix for finals week in St Kitts and Nevis.
Sports Minister Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute has said that he is impressed with the performance of the Saint Lucia Zouks and he wants to see this continue for the other matches.
“We have had three great days of cricketing activity so far and we are looking forward to an even better day today. Not only have the turn out been good, on Saturday, it could have been better,” he said.
The minister said the Zouks performance has enhanced the whole experience for fans and cricket patrons from across the Caribbean and internationally visiting here.
The Saint Lucia Zouks take on Trinbago Knight Riders in the 24th match of the 2016 Hero CPL games at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, today.
With just two games to go for the Zouks after this, the team management will want to win both their games in order to ensure they book a spot in the play-off stage.
Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders have had a disappointing time so far, winning three while losing four to find themselves second from bottom in the points table.
Today’s game between the Zouks and Knight Riders starts at 6.p.m.
