Saint Lucia’s Levern Spencer has qualified for the women’s high jump final at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
She cleared 1.92 metres.
St. Lucia’s other representative in the event, Jeannelle Scheper cleared 1.83m for 24th.
The high jump final is on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 10 am and can be viewed on on Winners TV, channel 80.
Spencer first competed in the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, clearing 1.84m to finish 12th in her qualifying group.
Her best result by height and place was at the 2007 competition when she cleared a national record 1.94m to qualify for the final, where her 1.90m effort ranked her 15th.
After a lacklustre 2012, the Central American & Caribbean champion has been in consistent form for much of this year. Her best height of 1.95m places her 10th on the IAAF list for 2013.
Meanwhile, St. Lucia’s Makeba Alcide finished 28th in the women’s heptathlon with 5,751 points. The seven-event competition was held from August 12-13.
