Soufriere Youth and Sports Council to host awards ceremony

football1PRESS RELEASE – The Soufriere Youth and Sports Council in collaboration with the Soufriere Football League will be hosting an awards ceremony on January 24th, 2016 at the Morne Coubaril Estate at 4 p.m.

The purpose of the awards ceremony is to recognize the men, women and clubs of the district that have achieved excellence in their area and have contributed holistically to the development of youth and sports in the Soufriere basin. Persons will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Young Entrepreneur of the year
  • Aficionado (Fan) of the year
  • Affiliate of the year
  • Committee of the year
  • Volunteer of the year
  • Students’ Council Representative of the year
  • Sponsor of the year
  • Administrator of the year
  • Youth of the year
  • Top Common Entrance Student of the year
  • Top CSEC Student of the year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Technical Official (Umpire/Referee) of the year
  • Senior Cricketer of the year
  • Junior Cricketer of the year
  • Senior Netballer of the year
  • Junior Netballer of the year
  • Senior Basketballer of the year
  • Junior Basketballer of the year
  • Senior Volleyballer of the year
  • Junior Volleyballer of the year
  • Junior Female Volleyballer of the year
  • Senior Track and Field Athlete of the year
  • Junior Track and Field Athlete of the year
  • Posthumous Award
  • Senior Footballer of the year
  • Junior Footballer of the year
  • Coach of the year
  • Football Club of the year
  • Female Footballer of the year

It is the first time that awards of this nature are being held in Soufriere and it is hoped that it will become an annual event. There will also be side attractions at the event such as Manassah (Soufriere Talent Unleashed Wiiner), Tamis Modeste (runner up in Soufriere Talent Unleashed) and Kermany Feleion (runner up in Soufriere Talent Unleashed).

Persons who will be attending the event will be required to show their invitation upon arrival to the event. It promises to be a fun-filled and eventful evening.
