PRESS RELEASE – The Soufriere Football League commences its premier football competition this weekend Sunday, August 9th. The District Representative Cup, which is the premier competition, kicks off with two games on “football Sunday”.

From 5 p.m. – new kids on the block FAITH UNITED takes on NEW D KNIGHTS
From 8 p.m. – battle of the stars – GHETTO STARS battles FAY STARS

A new and exciting format has been devised: top tier and second tier with relegation and promotion.

4. Black Panthers
5. Fond St. Jacques
6. S.Y.O.
7.Market Road

SECOND TIER
1. Zenon
2. New D Knights
3. Faith United
4. Fond Gen Libres
5.River Roots

The format is round robin and the winner of the top tier await as finalist, while 3rd & 4th playoff to meet 2nd place in the eliminator. Second tier 1st plays 2nd in finals.

$5,000 and $2,500 respectively are at stake for the winners.

Entertainment on the opening day include Groovy Soca Monarch King Arthur Allain & rising star Jay Budz.
Look out for lots of giveaways during the tournament.

Opening ceremony includes:
– Remarks by the District’s Representative – Hon. Harold Dalson
– Remarks by chairman of the league – Mr. Kendall Alexander
– Remarks by the S.L.F.A Vice President for the South – Mr. Emmanuel Bellas
– Fair play presentation from teams
