Soufriere defeated Micoud 2-1 to confirm their spot in the semifinals of the Super League football competition on Wednesday evening.

In what was a keenly contested game at the Anse La Raye grounds, a large crowd witnessed the battle for the fourth spot, with plenty of chances squandered by Micoud. Ned Etang netted twice to help Soufriere advance.

This victory means that Soufriere now joins Canaries, Gros Islet, and Vieux Fort South to round out the top four.

The match-ups and venues for the semi-finals will be announced shortly.

  2. I am proud of every single team that played. Alot of the players are young and am hapyy that there are those who are willing to train them. When you have a team like central and answer LA Raye with their majority players being teens... Great effort... As a people I hope that we are able to support them come what may

  4. Where is Central Castries in all this? Oh how times have changed and how the mighty have fallen.I remembered back in the 1980's Central Castries ruled the world of St Lucian football. They won every competition under the St Lucian sun. Why are they not being featured these days? It kinda reminds me of the days when Liverpool ruled English soccer. Now Liverpool is a shadow of it's former champion self.No team can rule forever.

I enjoyed the soccer of the 80's. You had the three main giants namely Central Castries, Vieux Fort and Soufriere... then along came lesser ones like La Clery and Gros Islet.Central dominated football with players like John Browne, Bock, DuBoulay, Jaws, Bage,Junior Watson,Low She, Flekkie. Where are these former soldiers now? They were good players who could have easily played in Europe with the right training.

Vieux Fort had men like Stephen Abra Edwards, Fairest Norton, Clouds Poyotte,Shakespeare and Phillip Marcellin. In Soufriere you had Joseph Auguste, his brother Keith 'lazy' Auguste, Paul 'Imaker' Lucien,Vidal, RAT,Wasin,Allan Amedee, Isiah, Julius George, De De...the list is endless. Football back then was of a high standard and everyone enjoyed the game. Now there is a lack of passion. I do not enjoy watching the game like I use to back in the 80's. Players back then played with pride and passion. They were willing to represent their communities come what may.

It would be nice if some of that passion could return to the present tournaments. Some of these ex players should perhaps offer their expertise to their former clubs. They need to come back to make a contribution towards the upliftment of the modern game in St Lucia. Good Luck guys!
