SmartTerm opens up its platform to help schools during COVID-19

(PRESS RELEASE) – SmartTerm, the school and learning management platform aimed at reinventing the way education is facilitated in the Caribbean, recently opened its learning management platform free of cost to any schools wanting to continue to educate its students online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After hearing the calls from teachers, parents and governments for a means to facilitate learning outside the classroom, SmartTerm responded by opening its platform to the public free of cost until the new school year, scheduled to start in September 2020.

“It was the right thing to do,” said Shamir Saddler, CEO of SmartTerm. “We pride ourselves in ensuring that we put the education of our students first, and this is what we are doing.”

115 people representing schools in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada signed up for the three-day onboarding process of their schools, which included access to SmartTerm’s Learning Management System through which schools could access virtual classrooms, have E-book integration, and generate reports on their students.

“We provide schools with a virtual teaching and learning environment so that students don’t have to miss valuable instructional time while they are outside the classroom,” said Saddler.

Report generation gives schools a solution to easily track, manage, and monitor student grades. Administrative data and performance metrics are readily available for data-driven decision making, and E-book integration allows for both students and teachers to have access to their approved textbooks without additional expenses.

“We’re unaware of how long this pandemic will last and its impact on education moving forward. We must ensure that we give our students the best opportunity to succeed in these difficult times and SmartTerm is prepared to do so,” said Saddler.
