Small aircraft crash-lands at Vigie airport

IMG-20151108-WA0001A small aircraft crash-landed at the George F.L. Charles International Airport in Vigie, Castries Sunday morning, Nov. 8, 2015.

The pilot was the only person on board. He was not injured.

Fire officials told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the incident occurred at about 8:45 a.m. and involved aircraft, registration number N7994H, which veered off the runway.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the aircraft’s right landing gear malfunctioned, fire officials said.

An official said the airport’s Control Tower did not receive any calls for help prior to the arrival of the airport. However, after the plane landed in a strange way, help was put into gear.

One airport fire truck and two others from Castries, along with several ambulances, responded to the scene.

Everything is now under control and there is nothing dire, an official said.

  1. That's the second time i know of this happening. The first one I witnessed close up. i must say that the pilots flying these planes have alot of skill and also good training to remain calm because so far all I can see is a perfect landing without much damage to the plane, the surroundings or the pilot. good job and also praise the Lord that they all made it safe. I also pray that if it has to happen again the outcome shall be the same.
