(SLTA SCOOP) – The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) wishes to congratulate our culinary team on its outstanding performance at the 2018 Taste of the Caribbean competition organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA).
The team touched down to a well-deserved heroes’ welcome at the Hewanorra International Airport on Thursday, June 28, 2018 after winning gold for Best Vodka Cocktail and silver for Culinary Team of the Year, Best Pastry Chef of the Year, Junior Chef and Bartender of the Year.
The team also won bronze for Individual Seafood, Individual Beef, Individual Chocolate and Chef of the Year.
The CHTA’s Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Competition took place in Miami, FL from June 22 – 26, 2018 where Saint Lucia competed against fifteen (15) other Caribbean nations.
The eight-member culinary team consisted of Chefs Billy Mauricette, Niguel Gerald, Kisha Prosper, Robert McDonald, Klent Abel, Nissa Paul along with mixologist Germain Sydney, and was managed by Chef Richardson Skinner.
Team Saint Lucia was also applauded for its culinary presentation at the CHTA’s culinary showcase, Caribbean305 in Miami on Saturday June 23, where it served up some Yam Balls with a chutney, Bounty Rum Cheesecake and a Lucian sparkler cocktail.
