By SLP

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Saint Lucia Labour Party will kick off its 2017 Conference of Delegates on Sunday 8th October at 3.00 p.m. at the Beanfield Comprehensive Secondary School in the southern town of Vieux Fort, under the theme: Mobilize, Organise, Consolidate.

In addition to delegates from the seventeen constituencies, the Labour Party Women’s Organization and the Labour Party Youth Organisation, the Open Session is open to all supporters and well-wishers. The Media is also invited to attend and cover the Open Session.

The Feature Address at the SLP 2017 Conference will be delivered by former Jamaican Minister of Tourism, Hon. Kenneth Wykeham Mc Neill. Mr. Mc Neill served as Minister of Tourism in the government of Jamaica’s People’s National Party from 2012 to 2016.

Hon Philip J. Pierre will also deliver the annual Political Leader’s policy address to Conference during which he is expected to spur the Party to accelerate its organizational work in preparation for a return to government at the first given opportunity.

A special tribute to former Political Leader, Dr. Kenny D. Anthony will be included in the day’s programme.

The Conference will continue on Sunday 15 October with the Closed Session where internal party business will be dealt with.

  3. Hey SLP! What in there has a country focus? Or, it all about getting back into power to pay your mortgages and car loans? Do you care to point out clearly, what's in it for people other than your career dinosaur politicians?

  6. As bad as the UWP appears no one should think of putting the slp in power until it stop abusing voters for voting in the uwp. The slp was voted out of office because it lost touch with the majority of St lucians yet they fail to even acknowledge this. Who wants to vote for a party with the same actors, the same aim, the same bs of self righteous antics? Its sickening to even think that they have not even tried to entice new persons to join them but still they want to come back to power with the same slate.
SLP needs new blood and people we can be excited about to help rebuild the country.

  7. AUDI DRIVING LABOUR PARTY SUPPORTER

LOL...the Labour can organize all it wants. The goal of parties are to win elections and the labour party has sizeable ground to cover. You cannot just criticize a government into winning an election. You need to provide a roadmap to development. But the proof in the pudding of 2011-2016 is evidence that the labour party is first of all not a labour party. The party in 2013 was able to relieve itself of its labour base as consequence of the smart boys thinking that the new NICE base would replace the union base largely made up of public servants. The NICE base proved largely unreliable, and insufficient in mounting any sort of defense against the unrelenting Chastanet unslaught. You don't hand over your infrastructure ministry to a single oligarch. You don't waste tax payers money on repaying voters. You don't waste 5 years in power setting up key supporters and interests. That's a recipe for loosing an election. Sit back and watch Chas work! And get another information or media person. You press releases suck! Try getting someone who is more stable.

  10. I want SLP to acknowledge and take responsibility for the mess that they created first. Some of it includes damaging the image of the country internationally just to tarnish rival politicians in order to ensure their re-election. Then apologize, then we can move on. If political parties are just allowed to move on like nothing happened then there would be no closure to political feuding neither closure for deep issues. The UWP will be encouraged to also to follow suit.

This divisive political climate does not work for us neither is it profitable to our children. So lets start fresh. By fresh i also mean that some people have to leave. Your visas have expired. Two terms maximum and agree to Constitutional Reform, severe punishment to those who put the security of the country at risk for the sake of political mileage. That in the direction we the people want to head. Get with the program or see yourself become irrelevant.
