The Saint Lucia Party calls once again on Allan Chastanet to explain why Soufriere Town Council funds were used to finance his campaign in Soufriere and to stop his attempts to deceive the public by hiding behind whether the discovery of those illegal payments were carried out under the Finance Act or some other legislation.
After hearing Mr. Chastanet during a call to RCI News Spin yesterday, the SLP also reminds Mr. Chastanet that former Taiwanese Ambassador Tom Chou publicly disassociated himself from the campaign activity which featured Third World at the Soufriere playing field. In fact the ambassador said that he left as soon as the lights were turned on.
The SLP believes Mr. Chastanet should tell the public why was catering (($2,019) and sound system ($21,000) paid for Third World by the Soufriere Council if the Band’s performance was not connected to the turning on of lights?
He should also explain why $7,100 was paid to lay flooring for Third World if they were not part of turning on of lights? And finally why was a payment made by Council for the training of election agents if that was not part of the turning on of the lights on the Soufriere field?
