With the introduction of a new name, the ‘Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival’, complete with an eye-catching logo and a redefined artistic direction, the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia is gearing up to once again welcome the world to its shores, as it inaugurates the next chapter in the life of the region’s most anticipated musical festival, which will unfold in less than a month.
Now dubbed the ‘Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival’, the 13-day event is expected to attract thousands to the iconic and historic Pigeon Island National Landmark, where the main acts of the Festival will take to the stage.
With the newly added infusion of the arts being amalgamated into the Festival this year, a voluminous number of artisans, entertainers and cultural enthusiasts will take centre stage at various scenic vistas across the island.
Patrons who wish to experience the revamped, rebranded and reenergized Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival now have the opportunity to experience the “Cultural Explosion” on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 7 pm-12 am.
This creative initiative is being held in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association to showcase the exquisite culinary capabilities of various local vendors by pairing them with our award-winning Saint Lucia Culinary Team.
This unique collaboration is intended to produce specialty dishes to the already enticing local street creations that our Vendors produce weekly.
The vendors will also gain an opportunity to work alongside the award-winning chef from the Saint Lucia culinary team 2012. This initiative was coordinated in an effort to expose vendors to a different culinary realm. This innovative alliance will result in the creation of a specialty dish which will infuse a touch of savoury local street cuisine with an elevated culinary flare.
The presence of Saint Lucia Distillers will also be felt at the “Cultural Explosion” event. This will be an opportunity for patrons to sample various Saint Lucian inspired cocktails created by imagination of Chairman’s chief mixologist and winner of the Chairman’s Reserve Bartending Competition 2012, Josiah Regis from Delirious Bar.
The only way to indulge and be a part of this unique “Cultural Explosion” is to support our local vendors and patronize this event on Friday, May 3, 2013 which will take place in the heart of Gros Islet Village from 7pm until 12am.
The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival opens on April 30 at the Mindoo Phillip Park and will encompass a kaleidoscope of Caribbean music and artistry featuring performances from Jamaica’s Konshens, Haiti’s T-Vice, Trinidad and Tobago’s Kerwin Dubois & Benjai, and national acts Superman HD, Ricky T and Thygeson ‘Penn’ Joseph.
