Patrons who wish to experience the revamped, rebranded and re-energized Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival now have the opportunity to experience the “Cultural Explosion” on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 7 pm-12 am.
This creative initiative is being held in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA) to showcase the exquisite culinary capabilities of various local vendors by pairing them with our award-winning Saint Lucia culinary team.
This unique collaboration is intended to produce specialty dishes to the already enticing local street creations that our vendors produce weekly.
To guarantee the highest standard of food preparation, quality and to exceed patrons’ expectations, the SLHTA, in collaboration with the Gros Islet Town Council, hosted a training and development programme on Thursday, April 25, 2013 to enhance the knowledge of local vendors.
The SLHTA is of the conviction that demonstrations and lectures from local master chefs will inspire the vendors and heighten their passion and creative juices, to not only utilize more local ingredients, but to be innovative with colours, textures and flavours.
Thirty-five local Gros Islet vendors attended the training session with the motive of enhancing the knowledge of local vendors by offering three intense classes which will focus on health and safety practices by the Public Health Department, cooking techniques by Chef Robbie Skeete from Caribbean Pirates, and enhancing flavour by using spices by Chef Adil Sherwani from Spice of India.
This will be the first of many other training programmes offered from the SLHTA to other village vendors as we commit to providing our communities with knowledge that the Association possesses.
