SLFA first division club championship kicks off with double headers on Sunday

(PRESS RELEASE) – The New Year, 2018 opens a season which is anticipated to be hyperactive for the governing football body in Saint Lucia.

With less than a month into the season, the transfer market has been bustling with activity. The 2018 edition will be played using a round robin format that includes a total of 28 matches of seven rounds amongst the SLFA’s 8 premier clubs, and commences from February 11, 2018 and ends March 14 2018.

The SLFA first division championship kicks off with double headers, on Sunday February 11, 2018 from 6:00 pm at two premiere venues, Gros Islet and Anse La Raye playing fields. The games are scheduled to commence at 6:00 and 8:00 pm respectively.

Defending champions Northern United All Stars of Gros Islet, coached by Franklyn Mc Donald will at 8:00 pm, be challenged by the champion team from the East Ti Rocher FC on their home ground, a game which follows the VSADC Vs PLATINUM in a North-South derby at 6:00 pm.

On the West Coast, football fans will witness two exciting games when R.V. Juniors FC of the Roseau Football League, will at 6:00 pm lock horns with Uptown Rebels FC, newly promoted club Uptown Rebels from the Vieux Fort South League who has been tipped as favourites to walk away with this years coveted prize; and at 8;00 Pm the pride of Anse La Raye ALLEZE will be challenged by the boys from Marchand, Big Players, who have everything to prove.

The victor of this Club championship will represent Saint Lucia at the 2018 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship.
