PRESS RELEASE – The Saint Lucia Coalition of Service Industries Inc. (SLCSI) will this week host the Annual Strategic Planning Meeting of the Caribbean Network of Service Coalitions (CNSC). CNSC is the umbrella body for Service Coalitions across the Caribbean.
It is part of a CARICOM Initiative to diversify the economies of respective member states, with a view to increasing foreign exchange, generating employment, achieving sustainable economic development, and wealth creation.
The Strategic Planning Meeting will be held at Coco Palm from Thursday January 21 to Friday January 22, 2016. The two-day Meeting, which is being organized by Caribbean Export, will be attended by heads of Service Coalitions from Antigua, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, The Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Vincent, Suriname, Trinidad, and host country Saint Lucia. The Strategic Planning Exercise will be facilitated by Consultant Dr. Andre Henry from Trinidad.
A key objective of the two-day Meeting is to ratify the Strategic Plan for the Caribbean Network of Service Coalitions, as well as finalize the CNSC Draft Work Plan for 2016. The Meeting will also review Concept Notes for Regional Projects under the 11th EDF, aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the CNSC, and the overall development of the region’s services sector. Project Funds under the 11th EDF for the region’s services sector are being administered by the Barbados-based Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export).
Executive Director of the Saint Lucia Coalition of Service Industries, Yvonne Agard, says St. Lucia’s hosting of the 2016 CNSC Annual Strategic Planning Meeting is significant, as it ushers-in a new cycle of growth and development for the region’s services sector.
