(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – The Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA) is thanking MBC/ Real FM 91.3 for collaborating with the organization to host Friday’s telethon. The telethon is aimed at raising funds to keep the ‘doors of the SLBWA open’.

The Executive Director Mr. Anthony Avril and newly installed executive council headed by President Mr. Glen Simon have embarked on an endeavor to make the SLBWA a household name, and to rally support through several means.

One of these is the hosting of a live telethon for the organization, facilitated by MBC/Real FM 91.3. The public is being asked to follow the live stream on MBC’s Facebook page ‘MBC Television Saint Lucia’ or the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association’s Facebook account tomorrow Friday, May 18, 2018.

Citizens along with the cooperate sector are encouraged to call into the popular morning programme “Zafeh nous en Ste.Lisi” hosted by on-air personalities Andrew “Yardie” Haynes and Jahiem Etienne to pledge assistance. Calls will be taken from 6:30 a.m. until 12 noon. The telephone number for pledging is 453 3911. The bank account number is 2608772, at the First Caribbean International Bank. Walk- in contributors will also be accommodated at the Barnard Hill studio or the offices of the SLBWA.

A special appeal is being made for overseas communities and international friends to support this worthy cause.

The theme of the telethon is: Sighted today, blind tomorrow, help save the SLBWA. The telethon had been scheduled for last year but was postponed due to the destructive impact of the last hurricane season on neighboring Caribbean islands.
