Skyla Isidore recorded back-to-back high-scoring matches as the Saint Augustine’s University women’s volleyball team lost to the home team and then to USC Aiken in the Francis Marion Volleyball Tri-Match at the Smith University Centre last weekend.
The Saint Lucian junior, from Morne Fortune, Castries and Ciceron Secondary, recorded five kills and six in the two matches.
Kayla Cason (Fr./Virginia Beach, Va.) totalled 18 digs in two matches, 11 in the Lady Falcons’ three-set loss (25-20, 25-12, 25-16) to Francis Marion University and seven in a three-set defeat (25-11, 25-18, 25-20) to USC Aiken.
So far this season, Skyla leads the Lady Falcons with 214 kills. The next best player has 190. She has played all 77 sets in which Saint Augustine’s has competed and has 2.78 kills per set. She also shares the team lead for service aces with 30, and the lead in blocking with 40. She is the team leader in points with 270, 3.52 per set, and only two other players (at 2.95 and 2.03) have more than two points per set.
Skyla, a member of the Saint Lucia national team, is the second prominent athlete from Saint Lucia to attend Saint Augustine’s, which is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dane Magloire set national records in long jump and triple jump and earned a national title whilst competing for the Falcons.
