UPDATE: Shooting incidents in Castries

St. Lucia News Online has received reports of two shooting incidents near Faux-A-Chaud, Castries at around midnight.

Reports are that at about 12:30 am a barrage of gunshots were fired at a house on George Cooper Road\Hospital Road.

The house targeted was allegedly that of a teenager who was shot and injured on Hospital Road in January this year.

About 15 minutes later, this newsroom also understands that the house of a recent homicide victim in the area was shot up.

No one was injured in this morning’s shooting incidents.

Police are investigating.

The Faux-A-Chaud and Hospital Road areas have been the scenes of an ongoing gun violence between rival factions since late last year which have resulted in several homicides.

The last homicide occurred on Sunday, Aug. 18 at about 2 pm when 36-year-old Norence Laurant of George Cooper Road was shot several times.

His death came two weeks after a man named William Francis, 45, aka Ghost, was gunned down on Hospital Road.

  1. relocation is not the solution!!! A bit of history; those causing all the madness in Four A Chaud are the descendants of those relocated from Conway to Four a Chaud in the 70"s

    • Yes fine, but they were relocated from a cramped up ghetto to another cramped up ghetto, how many violent shooting incidents have u heard about those conway people who have been relocated to marigot? either that or just let them kill each other off and clean up the after math, i suggested relocating and my suggestion is obviously a unpopular one, how about some of your'll own, suggestions, lets debate it.

  2. when you relocate those people you do not solve the problem you only remove the problem from point A to point B so Mr/miss Someome be very careful what you wish for they might move the gang or part of the gang in your area and what happens we need to deal with the situation at hand, its clear there is an on going gang war but no one is talking so people keep on dieing.

    • not necessarily mike, conway was a war zone at one point, walking up or down the darling guaranteed you getting robbed and they relocated someone of these people and i think it has become a better place not perfect but its a start, i have no problem passing by at 9 pm at night or going on the court to watch a game and you only addressed half my statement i also said police cause i'm sure some of these people have warrants out on them and the police need to start doing their jobs, the man complained earlier this year his life was endangered and the police did nothing and now he is dead.

  3. The US knows the answer and how to deal with the crime situation so why when the us caribbean citizens commit a crime they deport them back to the Caribbean when they spend most of the years in the us.

  7. how long the authorities have been saying they need to relocate these persons occupying that area, they are located on a very active public road, what if our prime minister had been traveling along that road at any of these time when those shootings occurred and got hit by a stray. police and housing authorities need to amp it up cause their patrolling and ransacking the wrong peoples' houses not working
