A number of St Lucians have made the Queen’s Birthday Honours list this year.

According to government information, over 13 individuals were selected based on their contributions to various spheres of the country’s development.

Their names were first chosen by government ministers and had to be approved by Queen Elizabeth II. This is an annual process which takes place as part of the monarch’s birthday celebrations.

The St. Lucians to be honoured include Nathalbert Polycarp Husbands for service to the nation, Anthony Joseph Neville Skeet for his contribution to national development and Andre Chastanet for his service to business.

Others include Rosemund Elizabeth Josephine Taylor for contributions to public service development, Sylvestre Phillip for education and community efforts, Jeremy Finbar De Lellis Sullivan for education and Marcus Day for humanitarian services.

Richard Lascaris will be honoured for his involvement in the fishing industry while Rosalind Ettiene Joseph was chosen for education and community development.

Others making the list are John Noel for service to the community, Edward Edwin Manaoo for his work in the fisheries cooperative movement and Lenus Leon for service to the fisheries sector.

  2. It looks like many of you particularly SLU and Colonial days done did not read the article and just jump into posting a comment. Why are people always bitter and angry on this site?.What have doing something good for your own country and being recognised by your government and being approved by the queen bring out so much negativity in some of you? All those who are writing so passionately about colonialism and repatriations it beggars belief they are the same ones given an opportunity to live in the U.K or Africa they will surely choose the former.Waiting FOR your reply SLU AND CDD.

  4. While we enjoy freedom of speech, the critics will always come out with words of hatred. For those who can show appreciation to those who serve the communities, I applaud you. Let us continue to do so, be it because of the Queen, local government or the community. People, stop hating! Would it make sense if you were the one to be shown appreciation? Yes, someone or some people must bear the tag. It happens worldwide. Try to improve your personality as a better human being. Go on and vent! Ha ha!

    • @ Celia 1 G...stop being typical moron, and ask yourself how dos this even remotely benefit us as a whole?

Do you actually believe like rolling over like coons to colonialism is the way forward for us?

Wake up woman and be a woman of substance rather than a joke.

  5. Jealousy is also a disease, perhaps we should all try and contribute something positive to society? Happy birthday to Her Majesty, our Head of State!

    • @ son of Helen, since has one's opposing views been on of jealousy?
Why do we clamour to European small hand-outs in such token and believe we have reached our pinnacle in life?

The Queen of England is far removed from us as we Black people are from her.

When they begin to pay us reparations then I will some form of humanity from her.
Until then, let me ramble in peace.

      • SLU - why are there so many Lucians, legal and illegal in London, if Lucians been treated so bad by the UK? How about the Royal Navy helping out after the last hurricane? How about UK being fans of St Lucia for holidays?

Many Lucians in the UK just on the take!! Tell you what - go to Canada, oh hang on - they don't want Lucians in anymore for doing too much messing about!

  6. It will cost the tax-payers of St.Lucia a hefty sum. Trust me on that, there will be celebration at the people's expense.
