06bbd533-2b43-46c5-837a-aff9b910403cPRESS RELEASE – Between 14 and 16 January, as part of its newly launched annual calendar of festivals, the Laborie community hosted an exciting event called “Paint the Village”.

Hosted by painter Jonathan Gladding, this event brought together a number of artists from various parts of the island to work together on selected subjects and themes.

Over the three days, more than a dozen visual artists of various backgrounds assembled in Laborie and worked outdoors, giving fellow painters and the larger community the opportunity to observe their work and discuss their craft.

Paint the Village is organized Labowi Promotions in collaboration with the Laborie Development Foundation (LDF) and is part of Nobel Laureate Week. Organizers aim to make this an annual event.

All work produced during the first week-end will be exhibited and available for sale at an exhibition open to the public at the Papèl at Rudy John Beach Park in Laborie on January 30th and 31st days the exhibition will be open between 2pm and 6pm.

  1. This is a great idea. Over the last 5 years, I have actually fallen in love with the village. I am not sure about the success of their art sale. Tourists (cruise ships) generally head south to Soufriere or Choiseul before turning around. I wish the artists and villagers best of luck with their efforts.
