PRESS RELEASE – The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, the governing body of Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Saint Lucia, will stage its Fourth Quadrennial Session at the L’Abayee SDA church from November 05-07, 2014.
The three-day Session begins on November 05, with registration of delegates and guests at 12:30 p.m. followed by the grand opening ceremony at 3:00 p.m.
The Session is called in compliance with the operating policies of the Mission, to receive reports from the Mission’s administrators, departmental directors and the auditors; elect departmental directors and the elective members of the Executive Committee (the highest decision making body of the SDA church in Saint Lucia) and approve plans and make recommendations for the next quadrennium.
In attendance will be SDA officials from the Inter American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, the Caribbean Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and Presidents of sister churches around the Caribbean. Saint Lucia’s Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy, is also expected to be in attendance. The Drum Corps and Drill Squad of the SDA Youth Department will perform at the opening ceremony.
Executive Secretary of the Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists Alexander Biscette, said, “The Session is significant as it comes at a time when the constituency needs to think of specific plans to help the Mission attain “Conference Status”. Unless the Mission achieves “Conference Status”, the Saint Lucia constituency is not allowed, by policy, to elect the top three officers of the church. It is also very important for the constituency to get it right when it comes to election of the departmental directors and the configuration of the Executive Committee. We need the right people in the right offices to help the administration take the Mission in a new direction.”
