(PRESS RELEASE) — The visiting Scots Guards cricket team out of the United Kingdom ended their four-match tour of Saint Lucia in defeat (four-in-four) when Northern Cluster Grass Roots easily overcame them by nine wickets in their 30-overs-per-side encounter at the Gros Islet Playing Field yesterday (Sunday, May 26).

Sanjay Francis and Kimani Melius accounted for the visitors’ first two batsmen, who fell within five overs. It was left-arm spinner, Dari Green’s show from thereon as he ran through the batting line up, dismissing the next six batsmen with figures of 6 for 9 from his three overs.

Only one batsman reached double figures – Cobus Van-Achterberg with 33 that included five fours and a six from 20 balls.

Chasing only 75 for victory, Northern Cluster Grass Roots easily achieved their target for the loss of one wicket. Eighteen-year-old West Indies Female player, Qiana Joseph (26), and Ryan Goodman (21) guided their team home with an unbroken partnership of 60 off 41 deliveries.

Final Scores:
Scots Guards – 74 all out in 12.4 overs.
Northern Cluster Grass Roots – 76 for 1 in 8.5 overs.
