(SNO) – The Saint Lucia Volleyball Association (SLVA), with assistance from the Saint Lucia National Lotteries, recently hosted a Good Governance seminar for executive members of SLVA and their affiliated clubs.
This is part of the Association’s drive to increase the technical and educational capacity of its affiliates, geared towards producing an effective national pool of leaders.
The seminar, hosted at Auberge Seraphine, was geared towards improving the leadership capacity of affiliated executive members.
A total of 25 individuals attended the seminar, which drew on the expertise of three presenters.
Dr. Elizabeth Serieux, currently an assistant professor at University of South Carolina; Ms. Laurencia Cadette, a seasoned marketing and communications executive; and Kittitian banker, Pauline Slack, all imparted their knowledge to the participants.
The presentation covered areas such as leadership, motivation, and contingency planning, as well as touching on the specific roles of the treasurer, secretary and public relations or communications officer. The mission statement and vision statement was then presented to the participants.
The Saint Lucia Volleyball Association plans to continue its mandate of providing quality training to its members.
